Oh Rats

It's not always good to be right. Sometimes I wish I was wrong......For instance, say, when you feel like you have something living in your attic. Here's the story. And I promise I don't embellish the truth....even if my husband says that I do.
So over the last few weeks I have noticed some strange sounds coming from the attic. It's like little footsteps sometimes and sometimes it's like a rummaging through pipes type of sound. Clanking, scurrying,...you know it sounds like there's something living up there. I casually mention this to Gary a few times and he does his usual, Okay babe kind of look, like yeah, there's something living in our attic...wink wink. He tells me it's probably the pipes or just the normal attic sounds. I tell him that it sounds more strange than just attic sounds and I feel like maybe it's rats or maybe even a person living up there. I only half way kind of jokingly ask if he thinks a person could be living in our attic. You never know....this house was vacant for a long time before we bought it. He assures me there is nobody living up in the attic and again tells me it's just house sounds, maybe the water heater or ac vents or squirrels on the roof. It's not squirrels on the roof....I already know what the squirrels on the roof sound like. I identified that the first few days we lived here. Anyway.... fast forward to earlier this week (or wait...is that rewind) I am walking around upstairs and I am headed towards the girls bathroom and I notice this black little thing on the carpet. I look closer to see what it is because it's really small but big enough to catch my eye as I'm walking by. It kind of looks like a worm or some kind of a little bug. SO I get some toilet paper and pick it up and upon examination I am almost positive it is rat poop. Oh boy.. I am smiling in my head because I can't wait to show Gary. I go downstairs yelling.....PAPA!!!! He's in the kitchen so I go down there with rat poop in hand and go up to him and put the toilet paper in his face and say.....WHAT'S THIS? He has to pull his head back because who can see when something is that close to your eyes. He looks at it and tells me he does not know and asks what it is. I put it down and open up the paper and show him this little pellet looking thingy. He's like..." Oh that looks like rat poop". A ha! So we do have rats.....then he asks me where I found it. So then I tell him I found it up stairs near the girls bathroom which happens to be right under the door to the attic. He says...."Oh yeah the alarm guy opened up the attic today and it must have fallen out when he opened the door" . " So we have rats in the attic?", I say.
I knew it!!! Except now I don't know what to do about the rats and I'm freaking out because we have RATS in the attic. Do we leave them alone? I mean it's not like they are bothering us. Do we poison them? Do we set out rat traps? Then my mind starts thinking about these poor little rats. I don't think I want to kill them. If I can hear them playing around up there then surely I will hear them cry when they get stuck in the little rat traps. Oh dear...what's a girl to do. What do you do when you have rats in your attic?

This is so deep

Just kidding. Contrary to all those silly people that thought I would write these deep thoughted....(is that a word? ) blogs.......well this will surely show them they are wrong.
Dillards is having an extra 33% off sale. I love this sale! A lot of their stuff is already marked way down and for a few days you can save 33% extra of the already reduced sale price. Today I found some beautiful red velour pants that were regularly $36 and I got them for 5 bucks! Then I found this comfy casual top that was regularly $40 and I paid 7bucks! That's cheaper than Goodwill. Now that's the kind of shopping that will definitely not leave you feeling guilty. Surely even Dave Ramsey would approve of this kind of spending.

Are you going to vote?

So Texas is holding its Primary, Tuesday March 4th. You can still early vote at certain locations and it does not have to be at your designated precinct. This is the first time in my life I am actually excited and informed on which candidate I truly like. I'm not just voting because it's what someone told me to do and I am not just voting for the candidate that is the most popular. I don't understand those that are voting just to see the first woman president or to see the first black president. Yes, It would be exciting to see but come on.....you have to base your vote on more substance than that. Nonetheless this Primary is history in the making. I can't wait to see the outcome.... on both sides. I am hoping that Obama is going to win Texas and Ohio therefore kicking Hillary.....YES!!!!! ( sorry Hillary supporters ) out of this race. I do however know that there are many people who think it simply won't happen. Hillary Clinton does not lose! I mean she is 1/2 of the Clinton Machine. This is her life Ambition. I don't want to see what will transpire if she somehow steals this thing from Obama though. I can just imagine the backlash of something like that. On the other hand if Obama does manage to win.....I would be afraid if I were him. Very afraid. I get the impression that you don't want to mess with the Clintons and she's liable to turn Capone on him. It's like a soap opera that I want to hurry up and know the ending to. On the other side I know everyone thinks John McCain has this one in the bag but I'm still voting for Huckabee. One thing I have learned about politics is that things can change from one day to the next. There are no absolutes. He's the person I would like to see, breathe new life in to this country. He is genuinely an authentic candidate and I believe he writes his own inspiring speeches, and he supports the fair tax and he would hold true to his conservative principles. Sadly, and I hate even saying this because I hope I'm wrong but since I think the Democrats are going to win the White House( it's almost inevitable) I do prefer the Honor to go to Obama. I know he is extremely liberal and he will tax us to death but Hillary Clinton becoming president.... well that just scares me.

Giving this a try

So I thought it would be fun to start a blog. Not sure if this will be successful or not but I thought I would test it out. I usually don't attempt to do new things for fear it will be a failure so this is really putting it all out there. Will people read it?? And if they do, will they think I am dumb? Will they leave me a comment? See....here I go. I'm about to talk myself out of it like I always do. Maybe I think about things too much and just need to relax!!!!! Maybe I need to stop listening to myself and quit making things into a bigger deal than they are. I need to quit being afraid of things. I'm so tired of being afraid.

5 of my favorite things
So I am always looking for good or healthy products and I just wanted to share a few that I have found.

1. Burts Bees shampoo. This shampoo is wonderful. It leaves my hair so clean and ready for a good condition. It boasts: Gentle natural cleansers made from coconut and sunflower oils effectively cleanse your hair while raspberry extract, rich in Omega-3 and essential fatty acids, combines with Brazil nut oil to deeply moisturize your hair, making it beautiful, soft and shiny. I love it!
2. Fiber One Bars - Okay so who wants to talk about fiber??? These fiber bars are the most delicious, nutritious snack bars I have ever tasted. They are perfect for snacking and a great substitute for a candy bar any time you get a sweets craving. One little bar packs 9 grams of fiber! Did I mention they are delicious AND they are approved by Bob Greene's bestlife diet.
3. Blueberries. These little things are a great source of antioxidants and have many great health benefits. If you have time, research all the benefits of this tiny fruit. They are great alone ( I prefer organic) or great mixed in with yogurt and of course you can use them for muffins and yummy pancakes!
4. Lavender-Vanilla - This scent just might be the most heavenly scent I have ever smelled. Lucky for me they have pretty much infused this scent into all kinds of products. Currently I use the lotion from the bath and bodyworks aromatherapy line and I also have the home fragrance oil. I don't want to leave my house when I have this scent going. If you have not tried the lotion and bath gel....let me tell you, you're missing out. This scent is everywhere....go smell it!
5. I started reading this book ...The Power of a Womans words by SharonJaynes and have started to learn that there is so much power in the words we speak. Here is a brief description I found on this book
This book is for every woman who desires to use her words to build up rather than tear down, to encourage rather than discourage, to cheer rather than jeer. It is for all who desire to have more control over that mighty force called the tongue.
Let me know what you think about the new blog. I would love feedback. Also let me know if you have some favorite products out there right now. I always wonder what wonderful things I could be missing out on.
